Bride, Marika Barrett-Lennard and groom, Michael Coghill chose York as the venue for their recent wedding.

The ceremony on October 5 took place in Avon Park with the river as a backdrop. The reception was at Faversham House. The bride and her father, Graham Barrett-Lennard, arrived at Avon Park for the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage, accompanied by two flower girls.

They were welcomed by 120 guests from as far away as South Carolina, Vancouver, New Zealand, Honduras, Victoria, far north Queensland, Carnarvon and the United Kingdom.

The bridal party included best man, James Coghill and groomsmen, Harry Dunkley, Steve McGrechan and Steve Neuwart. The bridesmaids were Phillipa Perry, Elizabeth Perry, Verity Burges and Skye Millar with flower girls, Lauren Quirk and McKenzie Stankovich.

The reading at the ceremony was by their friend and York girl, Rheann Allen, who was visiting from Vancouver where she lives and works as a geophysical analyst.

Marika grew up at Beverley where she attended primary school and then Narrogin Senior High School. In Perth, she completed a Bachelor of Science at UWA followed by a Masters in Radiation Therapy at Monash University in Melbourne.  She practices at the Perth Radiation Centre in Subiaco and at Royal Perth Hospital.

The groom was originally from Victoria and moved with his family to various mining areas around the world where his father worked as a mine manager.  The family now lives at Gidgegannup.

Michael and his brother and best man, James, attended Guildford Grammar School followed by degrees at UWA.  Together they established the successful eWaste recycling business, TGR, based in Kewdale.
